Artist Statement
I take pride and effort in celebrating texture, pattern, color, and rhythm of my surroundings. The orange, purple, teal, and juicy black found deep in the feathers of the egg laying beast, and the rainbow trout that spends its life underwater covered in speckled reds and yellows grip my attention just as the occurrence of flora in the spring become and obsession.
Color and patterns are a part of life, and I strive to showcase them. When studying these, I am safe. Time will always advance with pattern, color, and a natural rhythm and these cycles provide stability and are medicinal to daily ups and downs.
I celebrate the beauty and consistency in these cycles from the past and present and find a sense of belonging, safety, and meaning in feathers, fur, flora, and leaves on a branch. I want others to feel a similar connection to the patterns, elements and creatures surrounding them and to be able to find themselves in a unique place when they view my work.
All of my pieces are one of a kind and they each have their own personality.
